Understanding the Tell the Story Technique

What is the Tell the Story Technique?

The Tell the Story Technique is a verbal process where you recount a specific event aloud while using EFT to reduce the emotional charge associated with that memory. Unlike the Movie Technique, which is often performed silently, Tell the Story requires you to speak your narrative, making it an active and engaging practice.

Tapping points

  1. Identify a Specific Event: Pinpoint a particular event that holds emotional significance.
  2. Give the Story a Title: Create a title for the event, which helps encapsulate its essence.
  3. Assess Emotional Intensity: Use a scale from 0 to 10 to measure the emotional charge held in the title alone.

Key Differences

The primary distinction between the two techniques is that the Movie Technique is typically silent, while the Tell the Story Technique involves speaking the event aloud. This vocalization can bring a new level of engagement and awareness to the process.

Step 1: Identify and Title the Event

Begin by identifying a specific event you want to address. Give it a title and assess the emotional intensity on a scale from 0 to 10.

Step 2: Apply EFT to the Title

Use EFT tapping on the story title. Repeat Even there is event called (Event title). Right now i am safe and completely accept myself until the emotional intensity drops to a low number, like 0, 1, or 2. This initial step helps reduce the overall charge associated with the memory.

Step 3: Start Telling the Story

Begin recounting the event from a neutral starting point. For instance, if the story is about being shouted at by a teacher, start just before the shouting began when the environment was calm.

Step 4: Pause at Emotional peak

As you tell the story, stop whenever you reach an emotionally intense part. rate the intensity ensure they pause when their emotional charge rises. Sit with it

Step 5: Use EFT on Emotional Peaks

Create an EFT setup statement targeted to the emotional peaks, such as: “Even though [emotional crescendo], I deeply and completely accept myself.” Tap on all 12 acupressure points while repeating the statement until the intensity drops to a low number.

Step 6: Continue the Story

Resume telling the story, pausing and tapping at each intense moment until the entire narrative has been processed.

Step 7: Test Your Results

After telling the entire story, test your results by recounting the event emphatically. Exaggerate the details and try to elicit an emotional response. If you fail to get upset, you'll know you've effectively neutralized the emotional charge.
